Kennin-ji Temple.

Kennin-ji Temple was virtually right behind our wonderful ryokan, but due to timing we nearly didn't get to look inside.  We had wandered through the lovely peaceful grounds on our way out or home on several evenings, so on our last morning in Kyoto we had a half hour to spare before checkout so we decided to take a peek.  And ever so glad we were.  In the unremarkable building that flanked the main temple were some utterly amazing painted scenes on the papered walls and there was also a rock garden to rival that of the Ryoan-ji Temple.  But the main temple building exacted the greatest gasp of awe as on the ceiling was an unbelievable mural of the Twin Dragons.

Ah Kyoto beautiful city of many delights we will miss you.
