Paris pop #18

Sunsetting in Paris.

Au revoir.

It had to happen.

We went for one more quite libation after our meal and like bees to a honey pot we found ourselves some Sisters.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Who would have thought that it would end like this??

Dining @ Le Dome.

Sitting right under the dome at Le Dome, in the Marais for our final meal.

The final just desserts.

Don't worry it's just all air, sort of.

St. Denis

Wandering home down the rue St. Denis yesterday afternoon, we were marvelling at the hustle and bussle of the garment trade that pervades in this area.  Racks of clothing and cartons of deliveries happening all around us.
But it was another trade that really caught our attention.

Just so many pretty ladies.

Bon jour madame, Le Bon Marche.

Whilst browsing in Le Bon Marche, the terribly elegant and chic department store, we spied some friends from Melbourne, making an assault on the menswear department.

This led to a jolly luncheon and plans for an evening get together for our last night in Paris.

Anton, Richard and The Castle.

Last minute shopping on the Left Bank.

A last look around the antique shops on the Left Bank. We simply call them-
"Don't even bother."

Paris Opera. The trilogy.

Colette.

Colette is shopping in Paris at its coolest, the security certainly give you a chill with their gaze.
The menswear was a bit preppy, so we just left with a Colette CD, so we could get the bag.

They do a fab window though.

If you aren't this skinny, don't bother here.
Spring/Summer 2011.
Use the Colette diet, cigarettes and espresso.

Dining @ Centre Pompidou rooftop.

It was time to go the escargot.

After a busy morning of busy modern art, we ascended the final escalator to reach Georges, the space oddity restaurant atop the Centre Pompidou.  With its pleasing views over Paris and latter twentieth century modernity, it proved the perfect luncheon spot.

Watercress Salad with parmesan and a poached egg, drowned in a delicious Balsamic.

Snails and toast soldiers to skewer them with.

Wash that down with a bottle of Rose

Finish with a Millefeuille aux fruits rouge.

Well why not.

.

One day and several centuries later.

To snap ourselves out of the 17th century frame of mind, we popped into the Centre Pompidou today.  Just around the corner from our apartment, it afforded us a later start to the day.  From Louis, Napoleon, marble and wood. To Matisse, Braque, plastic and aluminium.  Classical to Cubism.  Off we go.
