Dining @ Chantilly

Our drink of choice, du jour, Pear Cider.

A short stroll from the chateau is the Hameau de Chantilly, a folly constructed in 1774, consisting of seven buildings.  Modest and village style on the exteriors but lavishly decorated on the interiors, it was for the amusement and pleasure of the family, away from the grand house.  Marie Antoinette ripped off the concept for her Hameau de la Reine, at Versilles, where she played the milk maid in her village.

Pondering the toile de jouy.
Lunch was a bit of a peasenty affair, but in a wonderous setting.
