Stoke up in smoke.

Last night a devastating fire engulfed St Kilda's iconic Stokehouse.
This wonderful wooden building that stood on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay was a fantastic fine dining experience upstairs and wonderful smart cafe/restaurant on the lower level.

We stood on the Upper Esplanade and watched helplessly as it exploded into flames just before midnight yesterday.

And of course it was a much loved venue for Nic-nak Castle as it was always the site of our New Years Day festivities.

We do hope that a similar sympathetic building will rise out of the ashes to replace this institution.

Vale Stokehouse.
