Dust

Dust Redux, a multi faceted publishing and retailing concept, launched the other evening to much cool fanfare and laser lighting.   Housed in the basement level of the Hero building at the corner of Little Collins and Russell streets, we  were invited to witness an aural and visual assault to the sense in the unstocked retail shell.  

To keep the thronging crowd content, we were refreshed by the fine folk next door at Izakaya Den, a brilliant way to calm the masses.

Fun times back at the disco with the 20th Anniversary Tasty Raid shindig. 

Die hard disco divas and dudes dusted off their nighttime sunglasses for one more round on the dance floor.  Giving a nod and a wink to police raid that that was so ill-conceived and ridiculously executed, but really just having a good old get together.  

Where will we all be in another 20 years?

Pope Alice

Now showing at Anna Pappas Gallery is an overview of the practice of Luke Roberts with a bit of a look in by Pope Alice, one of Luke's alter personas.

The exhibition is titled Kunstkamera and runs until August 30.

Keep an eye out for the rumoured appearance of Pope Alice at the upcoming Melbourne Art Fair.

Tasty times.

The outrageous and irreverent club from the early 90's, Tasty, is about to make a brief return to commemorate the passing of 20 years since their headline grabbing police raid.  Yes it was a crazy, hedonistic hangout of the queer demimonde, but that was no basis for the police to detain and strip-search the 400 odd patrons that attended that night, August 7th 1994.
