Hudson, New York 12534.

The Hudson/Athens Lighthouse mid stream

The Castle took a little breather from the hustle and bustle that is New York city and headed upstate for a few days.  On the invitation of our dear friends Jeff & Rob, we jumped a train from Penn. Station and travelled north along the Hudson River for two hours to arrive in the delightful hamlet of Hudson.  The boys have set up home in this great town about 18 months ago and while Jeff spends most of his time here, Rob still heads down to the city to work 4 days a week.  After two nights here we can see why the change.  We will point out that this is not quite your typical small town America in regards to community as it has a very active GLBT presence, for friends at home we could liken it to Daylesford from Melbourne.  Thankfully the aesthetic of these residents have helped to re-energise and restore the township, without too much Disneyfication.  The economy also does well with a high turnover of antiques and collectables, of exceptional quality, so it just about scores a ten in Nic-nak Castles book.
Take a tour of the streets with us and some of our favourite buildings.

On such a sunny Spring day, how could you not love this place.
