Torii gates to heaven.

One of our favourite sites in Kyoto has to be the Fushimi-Inari-taisha shrine.  Localed a few short train stops from the central station on the outskirts of Kyoto, its main gates are at the foot of Mount Inari and trails that lead up the mountain to further shrines and sites are lined with thousands upon thousands of these magnificent orange and black torii gate.  The trail to the top of the mountain takes about two for a round trip and in the rain and humidity was a real task, but well worth the nature and sights.  We were watched over by many foxes along the trail as the fox is the cunning animal associated with this temple.  They were every where with their little red bibs on.  A must see sight in our opinion, the vibrante orange structures anoints the vivid green forrest was magical.

After a busy morning mountain climbing a hearty ramen set with rice and fried chicken was a just desert for our efforts on the trail.
