Shades of Brown
Emblazoned like a human beacon in his orange jacket, artist Gavin Brown looked like he leapt off the wall at his Urban Scrawl exhibition and joined the mortals worshipping his graffiti scenes. Brown is anything but brown and at the fortyfivedownstairs gallery in Flinders Lane, he was joined by partner Peter Curnow, who snapped away for their blog nic-nak castle, artist Chris Beaumont and wife Rita Arrigo, a friend of Rachel Griffiths, who was amused at the actor's aptitude for the ''f---'' word at the Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards. In the ''too talented'' department is Pascale Gomes-McNabb, the architect who designed another piece of Andrew McConnell heaven at Cumulus Up, the dreamy bar upstairs. In a family outing for Oscar-winning animator Adam Elliot, he was with partner Dan Doherty and parents, Noel and Val. Elliott can see the light at the end of the claymation tunnel after spending three years writing his new romance-comedy.
