New Year refresh.

The Castle doors get a fresh coat of popping blue paint for this holidays renovation project.  Loving the crisp finish and the brass fitting being back to their shiny best.  It all says -Welcome.

Blessings from Bali.

The incredible Peter Woodward (AKA The Print Prince of Bali), called by Mr Browns studio today for a catch up and to bless the new works that are being done for 2015.  Having not been on our shores for many a year it was wonderful to rendezvous with the master from The Prisoners of St. Petersburg.

When next in Bali check out Peters wonderful emporium in Seminyak.

And keep an eye out for more of these incredible Lino cut/print/paste works from Gavin Brown, that will be exhibited later this year at 45Downstairs.

Nic-Nak's from the Castle #29

A new addition to the Castle after our recent trip Nippon is this brilliant Noren, with its striking motif.  It now hides the kitchen from the hallway, blending beautifully with the dark wood panelling.

Solaire, Manila.

Here is a peek at Gavin Brown's commissioned works being installed at the Solaire Resort & Casino in Manila, Philippines.  Each work is 2.80 metres high by 2.40 metres wide.  They were painted on canvas at Gavin's Melbourne studio, mid 2014 and then rolled up and shipped to the Philipines, where they have been re-stretched and framed.

So next time you're in Manila, check out these works at Solaire Resort.

Show Off. NYD @ Xchange. 2015.

With the devastating demise of our beloved Stoke House, which burnt to the ground earlier in the year, we were left orphaned for our traditional New Years Day carry on.  Not being ones to let a party day go by we banded together with dear friends Mark Whearam, Gavin Campbell, Brenton Geyer and Patrick Christie to throw a little shindig named Show Off for all of our dear Stoke House refugees.
As luck would have it we were able to secure the brand new rooftop bar at The Xchange hotel and we were hosted by the lovely Ravi Soni proprietor of the said venue and brilliantly cared for by his fabulous staff.  For our aural entertainment we selected a tag teaming double bill of disco bliss.  Opening the afternoons proceedings were the fabulous Disco Molls, Deb Walters & Rachel Lister and then tagging through a monster 6 hour set we had the impossibly brilliant Gavin Campbell bouncing tracks off the uber talented Mr Takse.

Our one request of our invitees was "Show Up & Show Off".

Well with our friends this was hardly a stretch anyway.  A fun time was had by all.

Happy New Nic-Nak Year.
