Dining @ Crying Tiger.

A fabulous nights dining was had at Crying Tiger, a Thai street food cafe in the red light district (well one of them) in Manila.  Brilliant food, cheap beer and lots of laughs on a steamy evening.

The stroll home brought us past this band of mighty midgets, but we politely declined their enticements to view the show.

Manila moments #2

Hello Frida, everything tastes better on a stick.
More kooky are from Manila.

Getting around Manila.

With the population in metro Manila sitting at around 12,000,000, but the over all Manila area clocking 21,500,000, you just kind of get around as best you can.  Jeepny's are a signature of this place, crazy and crowded, but essential.
As seen from our aircon, chauffeur driven private car.  Not really mixing it with the locals that much, our traffic hell is first world problems.

Manila digs.

We are lucky to have fine friends here in Manila who have taken us in for our visit here.  We get to live in the gated enclave of Bel-Air, Makati City, in fine style.  It is a calm, green, gentile environment that is in stark contrast to the mayhem that is metro Manila.

And they seem to have a Gavin Brown or two

Very impressed with the neighbourhood style, this stunner is just down the street.

As well as this bonsai beauty.

And the neighbours like to advertise their fetishes.  We noted these tiled plaques affixed to many a front wall in our hood.

Nic- Naking Hong Kong

Noting better than jumping in a cab to do a bit of nic-naking while in Hong Kong.  Always on the hunt for some elusive treasure and this shoppe in Ap Lei Chau was chocked full of goods from Hong Kong of yesteryear.

Sunday adventure to Lamma Island.

Sunday afternoon we escaped the hurly burly of Hong Kong, for an adventure on the island of Lamma, just a little south of Hong Kong and only a 30 minute ferry ride away. Its a totally chilled atmosphere in a village like setting.  We were able to land on one side of the island and hike across to the other.  That was a sweaty, steamy trip, but we were rewarded at the other end with a feast of Indian food that was some of the best that we have ever tasted.  Then it was a evening cruise back to Hong Kong through the harbour with all of the lights ablaze.
