It was a post Christmas catch-up with the Drummond-Storm's and the new little man in their lives, that took us to the rustic, rolling
Macedon Ranges countryside. Just on an hour northwest from Melbourne, we stayed in the township of
Kyneton, one of Victoria's earliest prosperous inland settlements. Many fine old buildings survive and if you like churches built from bluestone, this is the whistle stop for you.
A short drive away is the queen of the spa scene,
Daylesford. A throughly charming hamlet with golden roots, like so many central Victorian towns, but with the bonus of many natural mineral springs which has seen it survive while neighbouring settlements faded away over the years.
Nic-naking nirvana.
